Alumni Executive Update: Progress and Challenges
Dear Alumni,
It has been a while since we took office, and many of you must be wondering why we have not communicated with you.
The main reason is that we still have not received the official handover of the Alumni bank and mobile money accounts.
Secondly, we need to have our AGM resolutions acknowledged by URSB (Uganda Registration Services Bureau) to change the signatories on the bank, MTN, and Airtel accounts.
This, however, is not possible because we are unable to produce the Certificate of Incorporation. Nobody seems to know where that original Certificate and accompanying documents/information are now!
In light of the above, we can also not produce an Alumni budget and Work Plan without being certain of our bank balances.
We hope to resolve these matters as quickly as we can, and we will communicate the progress and final resolution.
We however have some good news.
- In the last month, we have provided the school with WiFi. So we will soon have conferences and other online activities arranged.
- The North American Alumni had their reunion and raised approximately $12,000. Thank you very much.
- The Board of Governors gave us the green light for our Pumpkin farming projects after a successful pilot garden.
- On education quality improvement, we are working with the school and the Board of Governors. We have put together a plan to bring back systems for comprehensive education quality recovery. We have engaged some members of the alumni to support this. We are conscious that it will take time, and with your support and the full engagement of the school administration, we can turn this around.
- The Iconic Office Building plans are steaming ahead and are now with the district. (Geotech investigations stage)
We continue to strive regardless.
