ALUMNI EXECUTIVE UPDATE
My Dear Alumnus,
As we bid farewell to the first month of the year, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the resilience and determination you’ve shown throughout January. This January had 57 days!!!! but remember, it’s not the absence of challenges that defines us but how we navigate through them.
Now that we are into February, let the lessons of January guide your path. Whether you’re pursuing personal goals, professional aspirations, or simply seeking balance, may your renewed focus lead you toward a fulfilling and purposeful year.
January 2024 ‘Chat with your Executive’
- A)We steam ahead with our Alumni activities. On 28th January, so many of you attended our chat. The first of many and you all gave us loads of brilliant ideas on how to support our school and us as individuals.
- B)The head teacher Ms Namuganza shared some of the projects that the Alumni have given support during 2023. Wi-Fi at the school, renovation of the school library and donation of internet Routers, setting up a pumpkin farm, and the Education Quality Improvement plan which kicked off towards the end of last term. Special thanks to our Project lead Sarah Babirye flanked by JP Sajjabi, and special advisor Pumpkin King (Kayongo Mutumba) have made monthly trips to the school to make sure that our projects are delivered promptly.
- C)Our Generation Z pronounced Zi (those students who attended the college from 2005 to date) are planning a ‘homecoming’ on the 20th of This will take place at the college. Am so looking forward to the event. Watch this space!!!
- D)Members also agreed that we have our larger Reunion on the 28th of September at the school. We will share more on this shortly.
- E)The conversation on the 28th, then switched to investment opportunities for the Alumni. Dr. Eric Ikoona came up with some figures on Uganda government bonds. The discussion led us to more investment ideas like Unit trusts and other very clever saving ideas. The executive was tasked to go away and do some more number crunching/homework. I will however share the initial idea on the different forums.
- F)We are resuming our Alumni subscription of 50k per person. Members who attended the chat agreed that we give our Generation Zi pay a lower subscription of 30k and not the 50k that the rest of us will be paying. For the rest of the Alumni, it was agreed that we support each other financially on our various cohorts and not be shy to ask our Class reps for support as this is part of life.

Iconic ~Office Building:
There is still a delay in the start of rebuilding our Iconic office. This delay was first at the district and now at the Ministry of Education. They need to permit us to demolish the already burnt-down building. And yes, am at my wits end with all these delays. We however have the contractor ready to start as soon as we are given the green light.
Namasagali Alumni Website: Our website is done…. well it is a work in progress. Please feel free to share your thoughts on how we make it better. about – Namasagali College Alumni
