Namasagali Alumni Tribute and Updates: Honoring Father Grimes – November 2024

As the year winds down, we reflect on an eventful and poignant last quarter of 2024.
Celebrating Father Grimes’ Legacy
We bid farewell to our beloved Father Grimes, who passed away on September 4th. The outpouring of love was immense, and his life was celebrated through six funeral services across various locations, including Liverpool, National Theatre, Jinja Cathedral, and finally, Namasagali College, where he was laid to rest.
Ongoing Projects and Updates
- Father Grimes Office (Iconic Block):
- Phase 1 (substructure) completed at UGX 55,999,365.
- Phase 2 (superstructure) to begin soon, costing UGX 111,242,100.
- Mausoleum Project:
- Construction to honor Father Grimes is in planning stages.
- School Improvements:
- Class of 83’-89’ donated a generator to the school.
- Boys’ toilets completed with help from Class 82’-88’.
- Sweet Potato Project:
- Harvesting expected around May 2025.
- Fundraising Walk/Run:
- Canceled due to Father Grimes’ passing.
Financial Snapshot
- Subscribed Alumni: 410 (UGX 20,500,000).
- College Projects: UGX 39,032,830.
- Alumni Events: UGX 14,322,000.
- Father Grimes’ Office Block: UGX 55,999,365 (total cost ~UGX 257M).
- Funeral Costs: UGX 53,120,000 (partially funded by UGX 100M government donation).
Looking Ahead
- AGM: Scheduled for January 12, 2025, with an invite and agenda forthcoming.
- Obituaries: We mourn the loss of Arthur Sajjabi, Monica Mutekanga, Michael Otim, Teddy Lyn Kisitu, and Carol Ocama.
